Terms & Disclaimer
Our System Sanctuary, LLC ("Our System Sanctuary," "we," "us," "our") built this platform for plural systems and people with Dissociative Identity Disorder, OSDD, and related dissociative and plural experiences. It is a place for journaling, internal communication, community connection, and self-organization.
By creating an account or using Our System Sanctuary, you are agreeing to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the platform. These terms form a binding legal agreement between you and Our System Sanctuary, LLC, a Florida limited liability company.
1. Who can use this platform
Our System Sanctuary is for people who are 13 or older, and the experience is tailored to age. Adults, anyone 18 and older, have the full platform. Younger members, 13 to 17, have a more private, system-focused version designed for them; the specific terms and privacy details that apply to a younger member are written plainly in the versions of these pages shown inside their own account. People under 13 cannot create an account.
When you join, or ask to join, we ask for your birth month and year, never the day, so we can confirm you are old enough. We keep only that month and year, along with the date you gave it to us, as a quiet record. By creating an account, you are confirming that the age you entered is accurate. If you misrepresent your age, your account may be closed and your data deleted. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13, and if we discover an account belongs to someone under 13, we will close it promptly and delete the data. If we ever have a reason to, we may ask you to confirm your age again.
2. What this platform is, and what it is not
Our System Sanctuary is a personal management and community platform for people with dissociative and plural experiences. It is not a medical service, a mental health service, a therapy service, a crisis service, or a healthcare provider of any kind. Using this platform does not create any clinical or therapeutic relationship between you and us. We are not doctors, therapists, psychologists, counselors, or licensed clinicians.
Nothing here is medical advice, psychological guidance, diagnosis, prognosis, or treatment. That is true of the journals, the AI features, the community spaces, and the resources page alike. Information about dissociative experience on this platform is educational and community-sourced. It is not clinical.
If you are working with a clinician, please continue doing that. If you would like help finding one, the Resources page is a starting point.
3. This is not a crisis service
If you are in immediate danger, or thinking about ending your life or someone else's, please reach out to a crisis service right now:
- · United States: Call or text 988
- · United Kingdom: Samaritans 116 123
- · Worldwide: findahelpline.com
- · Emergency services: 911, 999, 112, or 000
Crisis resources are always within reach: a crisis line sits in the footer at the bottom of every page, and the Resources page lists more. On a computer, a Need Support shortcut also appears in the bottom-right corner. None of those links alert anyone at Our System Sanctuary. We will not know you opened them.
4. This platform is currently free
Our System Sanctuary is free to use. If we ever introduce paid features in the future, we will update these terms and notify everyone before any charges apply. Nothing will ever change about your access without clear advance notice from us.
5. Your content and your account
Everything you create here belongs to you. That includes your journals, members, letters, posts, notes, and everything else. You grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to store, display, and process that content solely to provide the service to you. We do not claim ownership over anything you create.
You are responsible for keeping your login credentials and recovery email secure. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
You can export everything you have created at any time through Settings. You can delete your account at any time. What happens to your data when you do is described fully on our Trust & Privacy page.
6. Data, privacy, and AI
How we collect and use your data is described in full on our Trust & Privacy page, which is part of these terms by reference. By using the platform, you are agreeing to those practices.
We do not sell your personal data. We do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.
The optional AI Insights features send a specific, limited subset of your data to Google Cloud's AI service to generate summaries. This is opt-in, one member at a time. Every member chooses individually whether to take part, and any member can opt out of AI entirely; a feature includes only the members who have turned it on, so a summary can be partial. The full details of what gets sent, how participation works, and the one honest limit (shared notes can mention others) are on the Trust & Privacy page.
The Learn Hub search sends only what you type to Google's Vertex AI (the same service behind our AI Insights features). No system data, no journals, nothing else.
AI outputs may be inaccurate or incomplete. Do not rely on anything generated by AI features here for medical, therapeutic, legal, or crisis decisions.
7. Community standards
When you use Our System Sanctuary's community spaces, you agree not to:
- Harass, threaten, dox, stalk, or abuse anyone
- Post content that promotes, glorifies, or instructs self-harm, suicide, or disordered eating in a way that could hurt someone
- Question or invalidate someone's experience of plurality. This community does not litigate whether someone's system is real
- Post sexual content involving minors, non-consensual depictions, or anything illegal
- Impersonate another person, system, or account
- Attempt to scrape, reverse-engineer, or compromise the security of the platform
- Use the platform for clinical, commercial, or research purposes without written permission from us
We may, but are not required to, monitor, review, scan, filter, remove, restrict, or block any content, message, or attachment on the platform, and we may report unlawful content or activity to law enforcement or other appropriate parties where we believe it is necessary or where the law requires. We do this in our sole discretion. We make no representation, guarantee, or warranty that any content, message, or attachment is monitored, reviewed, scanned, lawful, safe, or free of malware, and you access, open, and download files at your own risk. The text of your private messages, including direct messages, group chats, and supporter messages, is not run through automated content moderation.
We reserve the right to remove content and to limit or remove your access to the community spaces when these standards are violated. For serious violations, such as illegal content, active threats, or immediate harm, we will act without prior notice. For less severe situations, we will try to talk with you first. This affects the community and social features only. It does not touch your private system-management tools. Our full community guidelines, including how flagging and strikes work, are at /community/guidelines.
8. Intellectual property
Our System Sanctuary's original content, design, code, and branding belong to Our System Sanctuary, LLC. You may not reproduce, distribute, or build derivative works from any part of the platform without our written permission.
If you believe something on this platform infringes your copyright, email us at admin@oursystemsanctuary.com with a description of the work, its location on the platform, your contact information, and a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is unauthorized. We will respond and, where appropriate, remove the content under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act.
9. What we are liable for, and what we are not
To the maximum extent the law allows, Our System Sanctuary, LLC and its members, officers, agents, and employees are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of this platform, even if we knew such damages were possible. This includes data loss, service interruption, emotional distress, harm from interactions with other users, and harm from AI-generated content.
Our total liability to you for any claim under these terms will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or one hundred dollars ($100.00).
This platform is provided as-is, without warranty of any kind, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not guarantee the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of data loss.
This applies fully to any monitoring, review, scanning, or filtering of content, messages, or attachments. Where we provide it, we provide it as-is and at our sole discretion, and we do not warrant or guarantee that it will identify, prevent, or remove malware, unlawful material, or any other harmful or objectionable content. You remain responsible for the content you share and for the files you choose to open or download.
Where the law does not allow these limitations, they apply only to the extent the law permits.
10. Your responsibility to us
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Our System Sanctuary, LLC and its members, officers, agents, and employees from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses, including legal fees, that arise from your violation of these terms, your misuse of the platform, content you post, or your violation of any law or someone else's rights.
11. Resolving disputes
We genuinely want to work things out directly. Before anything formal, email us at admin@oursystemsanctuary.com and give us 30 days to try to resolve it together. Most things can be handled that way.
If that does not work, here is how disputes are handled formally:
- Binding arbitration. Any dispute, claim, or controversy arising from these terms or your use of the platform will be resolved through binding individual arbitration, administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules and Mediation Procedures (effective May 1, 2025). The arbitrator's decision is final and binding.
- No class actions. Disputes are resolved individually. You waive the right to participate in any class action lawsuit or class-wide arbitration.
- Exceptions. Either party may bring an individual claim in small claims court if it qualifies. Either party may seek emergency injunctive relief in any court of competent jurisdiction to prevent irreparable harm.
- Opt out. You can opt out of arbitration by emailing admin@oursystemsanctuary.com within 30 days of creating your account. Include your name and account email. If you opt out, disputes go to the courts in Section 12.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. For anything not subject to arbitration under Section 11, you agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts in Florida.
13. Changes to these terms
When we make a meaningful change to these terms, we will tell you in-app and by email at least 14 days before it takes effect. We will ask you to acknowledge the update before you continue using the platform. The version number below changes with every substantive update.
14. Your account and your private space
Your private space is yours. The tools you use to manage your system, including your members, journals, letters, notes, front log, and everything in your Sanctuary and Reflections, are never taken away as a response to a problem. If something comes up in the community, the most we will do is limit or remove your access to the community and social features (the feed, rooms, group chats, and direct messages). Your private tools stay with you.
There are a few narrow situations, mostly ones the law requires of us, where we may have to suspend or close an account itself. These are: if we learn an account belongs to someone under our age requirement, if a valid legal order requires it, or in response to genuinely illegal content or a serious threat to someone's safety. Even then, your data is handled as described on our Trust & Privacy page.
You can close your own account at any time through Settings, and you can export everything you have created first.
